Italy Ballooning (Emilia Romagna)

Ballooning in Italy is the most beautiful experience you can imagine, and the main goal of Ferrara Mongolfiere is to support and valorise this “other times” activity in an Italian region where was born the Ferrari, the Lamborghini, the Parmigiano Reggiano, the Balsamic Vinegar from Modena and many other excellencies “made in Italy”. We’re talking about Emilia Romagna a northern Italian region extremely near to Venice, Padua, Verona and just one hour from Florence.

Have a hot air balloon flight in Emilia Romagna’s skies is a unique show, a magnificent and colourful mosaic composed by farmed fields, rivers, groves, streets that have no equal. Emilia Romagna is the homeland of the great Po, a truly natural phenomenon. For several years now, hot air balloons Pilots carry with them the tourists in Emilia Romagna’s skies particularly on Ferrara, Bologna, Modena, Reggio Emilia. This is an experience which can be lived in all seasons, even during the cooler winter months, with scheduled flights that can be organised from towns and different localities. Organising hot air balloon rides is not that difficult, it is sufficient to follow certain important safety rules which pilots (certified ENAC) are well aware of, as for example, to fly early in the morning.

But how is it organised the ballooning plan?

The day agreed we’ll meet in the departure point at the prearranged hour. It’s not necessary a specific clothing but it’s recommended an appropriate sportswear for the season and trekking shoes or sneakers.

In the take-off site, before the departure, the pilot will make a short and interesting lesson on aerostatics and a briefing on security, giving to passengers some historic information on hot air balloons and on its physique and meteorological principles makes it fly.

Then it begins the hot air balloon inflation phase, a situation of union where everyone should take part, sharing this sensational experience during which the “Sky Giant” takes shape. After, more or less, 40 minutes of preparation, the hot air balloon will be ready to take-off and the passengers will be able to get in and get ready to live a fabulous excursion of “other times”.

The hot air ballooning experience can’t be described. Reached the wanted altitude, it will open under the spectators’ eyes an astonishing and unusual view: the treetops, houses, the countryside, all will flow slowly and silently, few metres from the ground. During the flight, you can shoot marvellous photos, make extraordinary videos, make questions to the pilot or just to enjoy the view, and the slow fluctuation. The ride will last 1 hour. During the landing the skilled crew following the flight from land, will reach the hot air balloon and help the Pilot in deflation phases.

Furthermore, for all the ones who will have a hot air ballooning for the first time, will get the “Air Initiation”. It’s an historic ritual during which the Pilot recognise to the passenger the “virtual property” of the landing place, in memory of what did King Louis XVI on the faraway 21st November of the 1783, on the occasion of the first exceptional flight of humankind. For this, the King donated to the two astronauts the historic landing shire. At the same time to each participant will be released a certificate, specifically written on a scroll, with date, location, name of the passenger with the “Honour and the Count Title” of the place of landing. The day will end with a breakfast of typical products on the landing location.
